Support - Dial-Up Configuration (Windows 95 / 98 / ME)

To Create a New Dial-Up Connection

  • Double click on My Computer

  • Double click on the Dial-Up Networking Icon

  • Double click on the Make a New Connection Icon

  • In the Field "type the name of the computer you are dialing", type "Tabletoptelephone Internet"

  • Click once on "Next"

  • *Type in your Tabletoptelephone Dialup number.
    NOTE: If you have Call Waiting, please type the following: *70 in front of your telephone number.

  • Click once on "Next"

  • Now you have finish creating a new icon

  • Click once on "Finish"

  • The Tabletoptelephone Internet Icon should appear in the Dial-Up Networking group.

  • Single click on the Tabletoptelephone Internet Icon from the Dial-up Networking window and drag it out on to your desktop. Just answer yes to the warning box that will appear.

    Configuring the Tabletoptelephone Internet Icon

  • Double click on My Computer

  • Double click on the Dial-up Networking Icon

  • Right mouse click on the Tabletoptelephone Internet Icon

  • Single click on Properties

  • Single click on Server Type

  • The only 2 boxes that should checked are:

  • Advanced options - Single click "Enable Software Compression"

  • Allowed Network Protocols - Single click "TCP/IP"
    NOTE: Uncheck all other boxes

  • Single click on the TCP/IP Settings button

  • Dot Server Assigned IP Address

  • Dot Specify Name Server Address

  • Type in Primary DNS: 64.140.128.10

  • Type in Secondary DNS: 64.140.128.11

  • Primary & Secondary Wins should be all Zeros

  • Check mark on "Use IP Header & Use Default Gateway"

  • Click ok on all three windows.

    Configuring the TCP/IP Settings

  • Double Click on My Computer

  • Double Click on Control Panel

  • Double Click on Network

  • On the configuration tab of the Network window, check to see if you have the Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP protocol listed in the box where it says "The following networking components are installed.

  • Single Click on the TCP/IP in the Network window, then press the Properties button. On the next window that appears, click once on the IP Address tab if it's not already showing. Make sure the option labeled Obtain IP Address Automatically is selected. If not, click in the circle next to it.

  • Single click on the DNS Configuration Tab, make sure the option labled Disable DNS is selected.

  • Single click on the Gateway Tab, make sure there are no installed Gateways. If so, single click on the Gateway number and click on remove.

  • Single click on the Wins Configuration, make sure that Disable Wins Resolution is seleted.

  • Single Click on OK

  • Single Click on OK in the Network Window.

  • Follow Windows instructions for restarting the computer.

    Connecting to Tabletoptelephone Internet

  • Double click on the Tabletoptelephone Internet Icon on your desktop

  • Username Type: username, eg. john
    NOTE: MAKE SURE Caps Lock on keyboard is OFF and Username & Password are in LOWERCASE (unless otherwise for password)

  • *Type in your Tabletoptelephone phone number.
    NOTE: For all Call Waiting Customers:

  • To add the call waiting a) Single Click - Dial Properties
    b) Single Click - This location has call waiting, To disable dial:
    c)Type in *70, (don't forget the comma)
    d) Single Click - OK

    Now you're ready to connect. Press the connect button.
