Support - DSL Configuration (Windows 2000)

 

These instructions are for Windows 2000.

  • Click on the 'Start' menu, select 'Settings,' and click on 'Network and Dial-up Connections.'

  • Using the right mouse button, click once on the 'Local Area Connection' icon, and select 'Properties' from the drop-down menu that appears.


  • note: "local area connection" will only be there if a network card is already installed

  • Click on 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' to highlight it, then click on the 'Properties' button.

    • If TCP/IP is not there, please do the following steps. If it is, move on to the next step.

    • Click the 'install' button. Now double click on 'Protocol'. Select 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' and hit the 'OK' button

[LAN Connection Properties]


  • From the properties window, make sure that the following two items are selected:

    • Obtain an IP address automatically

    • Use the following DNS server addresses

      • In the Prefered DNS server type: 64.140.128.10

      • In the Alternate DNS server type: 64.140.128.11

[TCP/IP Properties]



  • Click 'OK' to close the TCP/IP Properties window, then click 'OK' again to close the LAN Properties window. 

  • It may be necessary to restart your computer for these changes to take effect.

  • Start Internet Explorer and enjoy your high-speed connection to the Internet!
