    The air was cool, and the warmth of Vera's body vanished. He stood in front of the chronographic loopback engine. The atomic clock read 15:00:17.

    His time with Vera never happened. He never kissed her, never looked into those baby blues. Then it hit him. The experiment was a success. The loopback engine worked, and Vera was sketching on the bridge. David ran out the door.

    Discussion
    This story stemmed from a fascination with chaos theory. The idea that a slight change in initial conditions will produce a vastly different outcome just takes my breath away.

    The easiest way to throw chaos theory into a story was to have a character relive a portion of his life many times. As you read the story, you can see the many outcomes produced just by starting the clock a few seconds later.

    Throw a love story on top of that, and you have my story Chaos Theory.
